Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she moved to Oxfordshire in the age group of five, Emma was enrolled in the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma realized she would like to become an actress and for many years she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied performing and singing. Her performances had been in a variety of Stagecoach or school shows before she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone as well as Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these roles. They cast her alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's film debut. The film set records on first-day and weekend revenues, and it also became the most successful 2001 film. Film critics praised the film as well as the performance of three acclaimed young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a frequently read British paper, praised her for her outstanding performance. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for part of a feature Film. Later, she was nominated five times for her performance in the film.
